Most patients come to Maryland Vision Institute to learn about the health of their eyes. The majority of eye diseases are age-related — things like cataract, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. As you probably know, the rate of hearing problems also increases as we approach our “golden years.” Thus, it makes sense to us to provide free hearing screenings for our patients. Our Hearing Center provides a convenient way of diagnosing and taking care of age-related hearing loss and other ear-related problems.

What hearing services and products do you provide?

Our full-time audiologist, Betty Moss, M.S., CCC/A, provides comprehensive hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and hearing aid servicing. She has greater than 20 years of experience in the hearing business!  She performs her hearing evaluations in the main Hagerstown office which has a formal sound-proof room.

We offer a wide variety of hearing devices and styles as well as many different manufacturer brands. We do full-servicing of hearing devices and also provide rechargeable batteries and their associated chargers.

Okay, I need a hearing aid. But aren’t they super expensive and ugly?

Contrary to popular culture, modern hearing aids are very small and inconspicuous. There are many styles, each to fit a person’s ear anatomy and comfort goals. Most insurance plans provide some type of reimbursement for hearing devices. Our prices are very competitive with large big-box stores like Costco or Walmart.
